Camp Fern is a Christian summer camp that has being serving families since 1934! We over an overnight summer camp serving children ages 7 – 16 and are located north of Marshall, Texas. We're looking for Christian young men and women to serve in our programs this summer! We have a wide range of roles available, from cabin and activity counselor positions to leadership roles and even internships.

As a Christian organization, our hope is to further God's kingdom as we live life authentically with one another in the gorgeous woods of East Texas. Our motto is “God first, others second, I am third.” Camp Fern Counselors need to have a strong desire to be positive role models for children. They must inspire others through their actions, living by example. We teach from the Bible and worship together, and pursue authentic relationships that change lives and glorify God! Work in a unique setting in the beauty of East Texas, unplug from technology, and show these children your joy!

WHAT IT TAKES... TO BE A CAMP FERN COUNSELOR

It takes special people to be counselors at Camp Fern. Counselors are hired for their patience, optimism, activity experience, and creativity. They not only teach activities, but serve the emotional needs of their campers, encouraging the development of self-confidence, independence, and sportsmanship in and out of the cabin.

The applicant must be at least 18 years old and have completed at least one semester of college* (or equivalent work experience) before the summer session begins.

*We prefer our applicants to have experienced one year of higher education or work experience out of high school, but we are willing to consider applicants that are 18 years of age.

A Camp Fern Counselor must:

  • Must work each day to carry out Camp Fern’s Mission to enrich the physical, spiritual, emotional, and social lives of campers by providing summers of fun, friendship, exploration, and growth.

  • Maintain a positive attitude while providing a safe and fun atmosphere for campers.

  • Provide a high level of verbal and written communication with supervisors and camp parents.

  • Supervise groups of 8-10 campers seven days a week in a wilderness environment (we live in log cabins with No Air-Conditioning) and possess the ability to carry out summer camp programs outdoors in the East Texas summer climate during a 16-hour day.

  • Actively teach or co-teach five, one-hour classes per day in one or more of our areas of instruction.
